Lettuce Wraps

Do you need to use all ingredients? Use what you can, most important ones are garlic, vinegar, soy sauce, and sriracha sauce IMG_1424 - CopyIMG_1419_2  IMG_1421 - Copy  

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground chicken
  • 2 Tablespoons shallots-chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce-optional
  • 2 Tablespoons ginger, minced
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 2 Tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoon sriracha sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water plus 1 Tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 Iceberg lettuce (remove core and peel leaves starting from the core)
  • 1 can water chesnuts, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil-optional

  • with a sharp knife remove the core

Directions

  1. In a large pan @ medim-high heat add 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil and sauté ground chicken.
  2. Half way through cooking the chicken, add garlic, shallots, & ginger.
  3. While those finish cooking, separately, make a sauce with remaining ingredients.
  4. Add the sauce to the chicken pan, and simmer until most sauce is absorbed.

Extra Sauce

  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon rice wine vinegar, 1/2 tsp. ginger-optional
  • 1 teaspoon hot mustard (the one with horseradish)

Combine all ingredients and serve alongside lettuce wraps. Inspired by Vicky Ratnani
