Granita (shaved ice)

Go surfing and beat the heat

My knees said: “I don’t think so”.  I found inspiration in the book Iced Delights by Shona CrawfordIf. When you go through power surges (I’m soooo hot), the answer is Granita. Fresh fruit, sugar, water, blender, freezer. Once frozen, use a fork to eat your granita much like a dog burries a bone in the ground. Bib optional ‘cuz with a fork you might get dirty. Sooo easy , I love it! Already feeling those wrinkles fade away (maybe my face is so frozen with all that granita).

  •  2 cups blueberries                                           * 3 cups strawberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries                                       * 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar                                                       * 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup water                                                       * 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoons  lemon juice

Whatever your favorite fruit  is,  granita will cool you off.  For extra  happiness, mix-in a little red wine or vodka in your granita mix before you store it in freezer.

For a more detailed recipe, you may watch my Granita youtube video ( ). Granita is simple to make, awesome, healthy, and easier to make at home than making a trip to the store.

I cook from scratch and you can too!
